Larry Norman Christian Music is going to the dogsIf there’s one (gospel)song that has been “with me” trough all the years, especially in difficult times, it’s this song: I Wish We’d All Been Ready, by Larry Norman. It’s one of those “rapture” songs, popular especially in the seventies and eighties when movies about that theme were circulated in Evangelical Churches.

Anyhow, it’s a good song even after all these years and I still believe the message it conveys is true. The days are getting dark – war, hunger, refugees, death, .. it’s all around us. There is a way out of this mess we’re in, …

I also happen to be a big Larry Norman fan (as you could have read on this websites). The song was covered by Cliff Richard and D.C. Talk as well as many, many others.

So here’s my (acoustic) take on this Larry Norman classic. I’ve tried to record it before but this is by far the best version I’ve ever did I think. So that’s why I’m publishing it.

I’ve used a “spanish” guitar, since Larry used that a lot too on stage, especially for this song.

Some about the recording and video

For the recording of the video and audio I’ve used a Canon EOS 700D. A very nice camera and very suitable for work like this! I’ve added some pictures from pixabay and some others.

Lyrics

Life was filled with guns and war
And all of us got trampled on the floor
I wish we’d all been ready
Children died the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we’d all been ready

There’s no time to change your mind
The Son has come and you’ve been left behind

A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head he’s gone
I wish we’d all been ready
Two men walking up a hill
One disappears and one’s left standing still
I wish we’d all been ready

There’s no time to change your mind
The Son has come and you’ve been left behind

Children died the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we’d all been ready

There’s no time to change your mind
The Son has come and you’ve been left behind

The Father spoke the demons died
How could you have been so blind

There’s no time to change your mind
The Son has come and you’ve been left behind
